I've always believed that people are at the heart of business...
This sentiment may seem obvious but, having run successful businesses myself and now having helped many others, it never ceases to amaze me how many of us share the same issues and problems. Inevitably of course there’s always one thing at the heart of them, PEOPLE!
As a person, I’m lucky that empathy and compassion have always been somewhat natural to me, and that has put me in a unique position in helping to foster these things, and other essential values within teams in assisting them to succeed.
Being able to truly understand those you work with and to authentically connect with others, both on a personal and professional basis, is, I believe, the path to all the things that truly great teams possess.
My biggest driving force continues to be the desire to help and support others. Happy Successful People fulfils those passions and more, enabling us to help create environments where genuine human connections thrive, people understand intuitively how to best communicate, collaborate and interact and wellbeing is at the heart of everything.
There’s so much data in our lives, it’s sometimes easy to forget that it’s the connection with the people we share our days and lives with, that’s genuinely at the heart of all that drives our personal and collective happiness and success.
I’ve been privileged to have helped the founders and senior leadership teams of some very successful companies grow from start-ups to multi-national organisations. From my roles leading executive search firms, I understand very well that people are any companies’ greatest assets.
They say that people leave their line manager, not their company. I tend to agree, I’ve seen companies fall apart when teams become disengaged, work at 50% and then leave. On the flip side, an engaged and motivated team, led with purpose and the right values, really is a magnet for talent and an incubator for industry leading success.
Away from work, I’m surprised how much I have personally gained from volunteering as a coach for a rugby club. As RFU coaches, we always put the RFU’s TREDS values first: Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship. Seeing a bunch of mini rugby players grow up hearing these values every Sunday (sorry team!!!), it’s quite an honour to see them now as young adults, demonstrate those values, win or lose, on the pitch and in life.
When I finally accepted that I probably wasn't going to be a professional footballer for Portsmouth, I decided I wanted to work with people I admire, trust and believed in.
I have always believed that communication and teamwork is at the heart of everything.
I've had a slightly unconventional route to this point - I went to Drama school, performed The Rocky Horror Picture Show in China, worked with Paddington Bear, made tea for George Clooney, ran a market research viewing facility and workshop studio, and partnered Matt in helping many leading companies become award winning firms.
When Guy, Matt and I first started talking about how we could use our collective experience to do something we enjoyed, we very quickly came to an alignment and HSP was born. Most importantly, despite being different, we share the same values. I am excited about what we can offer to our clients.
We work closely with a collection of partner specialists and experts with a range of niche skills and disciplines, designed to support your team workshop needs.
Our core team will help you identify these needs and remain your single point of contact, managing the process seamlessly as our partners join the team as and when they’re required.
Could This Be You?
We're always on the lookout for passionate individuals who share our vision and drive to make a difference and play their part in creating our own happy and successful team.
The door is always open for a friendly chat to talk about a role whether now or in the future.
